About a third of the time I spent on the road was with a very fine, innovative entertainer named Joe Savage. Joe is gone now (pased on in 2022) but he is not forgotten among the many thousands of fans he performed for across the country.
Joe had several very high quality and wildly popular shows, one of which was the "Snake Show".
It included a very large reticulated Python named "stretch" that he would drag out of a large basket (the basket would sit on stage in full view of the audience for the first 40 mins of the show and most of them never had an inkling what was in it) and either chase people around the club or drape it over a willing audience member(almost always a writhing female).
I was with Joe through many incarnations of the backup band including Pyramid & Wizzard(with 2 z's).
If you would like more info about Joe Savage there is a good article here:
The Joe Savage Experience

I left the "Joe Savage Experience" to join an equally wild 15 piece show band named "Rock & Roll Heaven" whose main draw was four imitators of dead rock & roll stars, namely; Jim Croce, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison & Elvis.
All of these imitators were hyped to have had their faces changed to look like their respective stars but in actuality they were all "dead ringers" (pun intended) for these stars already and only had minor surgery to correct minor facial flaws.
Their coming out party was on the "Good Morning America Show" where they took off the bandages which covered their entire heads on live TV. It was a real hoot for those of us in the band.
Another hilarious tidbit about the band was the fact that(unintentionally) our guitar player was a dead ringer for Peter Frampton and the bass player looked like a clone of magician Doug Henning.

During the 18 weeks we played at Harrah's in Lake Tahoe people were constantly approaching them for autographs.

I continued touring until around 1983 when I finally got fed up with living in hotels and a pay scale which couldn't keep up with inflation and touring costs. After that I worked as a restaurant and nightclub manager, bartender, bookstore manager and computer technician/tech support agent.
I continue to play music as a side job and for enjoyment now.
Well, enough about me. I would however, like to say hello to all the musicians I have worked with in Joe's group and others and if you feel inclined please contact me so we can reminisce a little.
